Fuji, Magic and Beauty My view of the world has transformed since I began my photographic journey and education. This has taken place on many levels, both externally and my inner transformation - which is an on going process. The most significant thing has been how my view of the world now occurs within the frame of 35mm. This means, there is a shot or photographic opportunity everywhere. Being ready, camera in hand has become my daily habit. This new approach to my life had opened up some amazing experiences over the last four years. Last Saturday, I met up with my buddy Jin Lee - he was in town for my appearance in “Late Night Magic with Julian James” at The Jermyn Street Theatre the night before. We decided to meet up and talk cards, magic and our usual love of photography. Our session was great, card magic is our first passion and we always have great conversations on this topic. During our session, I noticed a very attractive lady, preparing some tables. Her name was Claudette and I asked her what she was doing. She told me she was part of Miss London. We had a good exchange and I asked if they were models to which she replied yes. This was a perfect opportunity to share that Jin and I were both Photographers and Magicians. As the afternoon went by, one attractive lady after another entered the area for their interview. It made my day, cards, magic and glamorous models in the house. As it happened, I ended up showing a few of the girls a few cards effects and they allowed us to take their photographs. I came away with some great shots, as did Jin ©Jin Lee Photography ©Jin Lee Photography One lady in particular was fabulous - her name was Day Day - isn't that a wonderful name. We had a great exchange and she allowed me to shoot her portrait. I have to say, this girl has world at her feet. Keep in mind; this shoot was totally off the cuff, impromptu armed with my little Fuji, not my big ass Nikon and Flash. Forget about it, this is a straight out of camera Jpeg with some Lightroom, Photoshop and Portrait Pro adjustments. This shot is a magical experience and it communicates, confidence, approachability, grace, warmth, charm and class. Day Day, has a gorgeous spirit and she WILL do herself proud in this industry of modelling. I wish her well on her journey. As for this experience, my passion for my craft in magic and photography have collapsed into a God given privilege which has supported me throughout my life. Losing my hearing two years ago presented me with a huge challenge.
Adjusting to life with virtually no sound has been tough. Magic and Photography has kept me focused on making a difference, being effective and productive in life. Thanks to Jin Lee for some of the images and to Claudette, Day Day and the rest of the girls for making last Saturday so much fun.
